2022: A year of endless renovations

This week I attended small holiday parties at two homes in town. It just so happens that in both cases, like us, the homeowners moved into their homes this past August. But unlike us, both homes are approximately 95% completely decorated with floor to ceiling Christmas decorations. I kid you not. And this is not a judgement — I’m amazed!

Then there’s my house, owned by a person working in the very field of decoration and design, with only three finished spaces. And none of these finished spaces are on the first floor, which is what anyone sees when they drop kids off for play dates, stop by with a package, etc.

And then I remembered we renovated an ENTIRE HOME earlier this year, from April up until the end of October. I honestly think I’ve blocked out so much of this year.

As I continue to recover from a lifetime of success addiction, I remind myself that just being here in this beautiful life is enough. Even though every single before + after appears to be magically quick, each project is thoughtfully slow in its development and execution, making the process full of intention and more gratifying in the end.

Here’s a quick visual diary of many of the rooms we renovated, minus 6(!) hallways and bedrooms in the Pivot House (less involved transformations) as well as exterior work such as painting the front steps, doorways, mailboxes, light fixtures. I’m exhausted all over again just running through the list in my head. 🤪

Cheers to a year of backbreaking work, wonderful new tenants, and planning for projects that are only going to get better from here!
